A large majestic tree with bright green ridged leaves. It has an abundance of creamy white catkins. Both male and female flowers are found on the same tree. The leaves can get as large as 30cm long and 8cm wide. Female flowers produce the fruits that are encased in a spiky green jacket. Pollen is great for bees and other insects. A very good stand alone tree but also works well in groups. Make sure you have plenty of room for this tree as it can live for over 500 years.
